Shirley qualified over twenty-one years ago at Caledonia University in Glasgow. She remains intensely passionate about the beauty industry and has retained clients for over two decades.

Shirley continually updates her skills by attending training courses around Europe. Uniquely in the north of Scotland she is highly skilled in medical treatments. Over twelve years ago she became one of the first therapists to train in scelerotherapy, the treatment of thread veins by injection, with Dr Mervine Patterson at Woodward Medical Practise in Essex.

Through Dr Patterson Shirley met Michelle Irving from the Cheshire Images clinic and for the last 12 years they have been working together to provide medical aesthetic treatments like collagen dermal filler and botox in the salon. Fantasia also provides cosmetic surgery advice and referrals.

Seven years ago Fantasia became the first salon in Scotland to offer laser for hair removal. The company is known for its firsts, and even last month Shirley became the first therapist in the UK to train and qualify in tattoo removal by injection.

Shirley started working in Dundee over five years ago and has recently moved to a new premises, Retro Hair & Beauty Salon, 13 Cowgate, Dundee tel 01382 220665.

This year Fantasia has including semi-permanent eyelash extensions and Backscratchers Extreme acrylic nails.

Shirley has also travelled to Harley Street, London, to train in semi-permanent make up, which creates beautiful natural eyebrows, eyeliner and lipliner. She has also learnt a brand new treatment for the removal of tattoos by solution.

In 2006 Shirley has also upgraded her laser skills at St Thomases and Guys Hospital London and is currently working on a new laser treatment for line removal & skin tightening using the "YAG” laser. Fantasia will be one of the first salons in Scotland to offer this revolutionary new treatment.
